Katherine T. Leighton has over 25 years of experience leading private and government grant projects ranging from Phase I SBIR’s up to $10mm multi-year projects. She has overseen all of LPS's grant activities to date with the DOE, NSF, Mass CEC, and other government agencies.
Kathie was formerly employed as an engineer and project manager at Sustainable Aquatics, Inc., SCHOTT DiamondView Armor Products, where she oversaw partnerships with Lawrence Livermore and Oak Ridge National Labs and with DoD customer agencies (DARPA, TARDEC, TSWG) to deliver leap-ahead technology positioning the SCHOTT as a technical leaders in transparent and explosively-formed penetrator armor. She proposed and won $10 million of company and DoD funds to support the effort, and served as co-principal investigator and co-project manager on the project. Previous to SCHOTT, she served in similar capacities at Dynamic Defense Holdings Inc., and High Performance Materials Group Incorporated.
Kathie holds a B.S. in Physical Metallurgy from Washington State University.
