LPS Welcomes the Summer Interns of 2016
Littoral Power Systems is excited to welcome three summer interns! They will be doing engineering work and helping develop designs in conjunction with our technical partners, GZA GeoEnvironmental and Alden Labs, as they perform design work on LPS’s modular hydropower and tidal energy systems.
Brandon Xu is a rising senior at Carnegie Mellon University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, where he has already completed six projects building skills in software coding, design and stress analysis, energy harvesting, and team collaboration. Awards include a semester on the College of Engineering Dean’s List and winning 1st place at Unhackathon in NYC. Brandon is from Philadelphia PA.
Alex Matathia just graduated from Northeastern University, with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He was a National Merit Scholar and named to the Dean’s List, among other awards. His keen interest in renewable energy and co-op/project experience in designing electro-mechanical devices aligned well with our current activities, and that was that. He hails from Mattapoisett MA.
Haines Duff is a rising junior Stevens Institute of Technology in NJ, studying for a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Naval Engineering. She is a hometown girl from here in New Bedford. She did a Semester at Sea in Hawaii last summer – which LPS is going to be very hard-pressed to top in terms of fun! She has worked as an Intern at Studio2Sustain here in New Bedford, and served as an apprentice at the Naval Systems Command in Newport, RI.
