LPS is looking Senior Design Engineer
Littoral Power System Inc. (LPS), located in Fall River MA, seeks a Senior Design Engineer to lead and conduct the final stages of product development and commercial installation of LPS’s modular hydropower system.
LPS develops and distributes new hydropower products and processes which enable cost-effective production of low impact, distributed power while maintaining the health of watershed ecosystems and surrounding communities.
LPS seeks candidates with working knowledge and demonstrated experience in all aspects of hydropower structures and equipment design and engineering management, design, and installation including dam, spillway, turbine and generator selection and mechanical/structural installation, gates, seals, logic controls, interconnect, debris management subassemblies, instrumentation, controls, and overseeing fish passage issues. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with modular hydropower approaches.
Reporting to LPS’s Project Manager, lead and complete the final design details of LPS’s prefabricated modular hydropower system;
Leverage outside engineering firms, equipment manufacturers and structural steel fabricators with whom LPS has developed relationships and others, and have oversight of a the creation of a supply chain;
Finalize design of the LPS modular hydropower system and oversee deployment of the company’s first utility-scale installation;
Set up and use an engineering part number and engineering change control system to organize, track, and control all components and sub-component design changes;
Develop all technical specifications and quality assurance standards for purchasing, and qualify suppliers;
Create and manage the technical aspects of a quality control system;
Manage the installation of the LPS modular Hydropower System in the first commercial site including schedule, budget, and contracting with suppliers, subcontractors, logistics providers, etc.;
Understand the regulatory conditions that govern the commercial installation and schedule and budget accordingly;
Work with the team to develop the engineering and technical aspects of the company infrastructure necessary to complete additional system installations
Oversee younger design engineers as they are brought on.
Initially the position will report to the Company’s Project Manager
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with 15 years of experience or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or structural engineering with 10 years of experience.
Experience with product development;
Registered professional engineer;
Excellent technical writing skills; and
Excellent communication skills.
Well-established engineering reputation with demonstrated excellence in both product and project development involving implementation of innovative, first time solutions.
Experience with design and installation of modular hydropower products or projects.
Well connected to and respected by the U.S. hydropower community.
Experience with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulated hydropower projects and interfacing with FERC.
